Relational Capital
Trust. Support. Work Together.
Because God is community, He multiplies community. So when His people invest in the notion of working together, we are reflecting His nature! When we invest in one another, this cultivates trust, which invariably produces humility, open-handed generosity, and an environment of Kingdom-seekers.
Relationships happen at Tables.
“And as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and His disciples. And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, ‘Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?’” Matthew 9:10-11.
Joining one another at the table demonstrates we are willing to be identified with each other. Trust is immediately engendered. Hospitality is now underway. Opportunities to demonstrate open-handed generosity are concrete and numerous. Suddenly, no one wonders what a “Harvest Table” is because we are experiencing it and sharing in the relational capital being invested in all directions.
Join a Table. Or, Start one!
Open-Handed Generosity.
In place of a constant fear of scarcity, we are launched into a mentality of abundance. This sets us free into a realm of sharing, as we trust that God will provide far more than we could ask or imagine. We begin to imitate Him in this by sending joyfully, knowing our roots are deeply nourished by the generosity of the Father.
Humility.
When we respect, encourage, and build each other up in love, we are free to receive the contribution of each one at the table! Humility affords us the posture to honor the variety of contexts in which the Gospel thrives.
High Accountability. Low Control.
It is frequently asked: How? Where? You already know how. And the time is now. The point is: when we come together, Jesus promised to be with us. We don’t need to “control” what others are doing, but we have certainly discovered that when we invite each other to tell what is happening right now, a beautiful and relational accountability is established in every direction.
